A New Beginning: Anton Mazur’s Path to Graduation

For Anton Mazur, his time at Coastal Alabama Community College represents more than working toward a degree. It marks a new beginning.

Originally from Ukraine, Anton came to the United States after the war changed life for him and his family. Starting over in a new country brought challenges, including adapting to a new language, a new school system, and a completely different environment. Through it all, he remained focused on building a better future.

Coastal Alabama became a place where that vision could take shape.

As a student, Anton has continued his education while also growing personally. He is currently pursuing an Associate of Science degree and plans to transfer to continue studying mechanical engineering.

Along the way, he has found guidance and encouragement from those around him. One person who has made a lasting impact is Ms. Kelly Kendall, whose support has helped him build confidence and stay focused on his goals.

Anton’s dedication has not gone unnoticed. During his time at Coastal, he has received the Perseverance Award and was elected as a Gulf Shores Campus Delegate. These accomplishments reflect both his commitment and the progress he has made.

Balancing school, work, and helping his family has required discipline and determination, but Anton says those challenges have only made him stronger.

Looking ahead, Anton plans to graduate next year, a milestone that represents far more than completing coursework.

“To me, it will mean progress,” he shared. “It will show that even after everything my family and I went through, I did not give up. It will be a major step toward the future I want to build.”

His story is one of resilience, growth, and the power of continuing forward, no matter where the journey begins.
