Coastal Alabama Community College to Host Mass Casualty Incident Training at Atmore Campus

Mar 9th, 2026 Featured

ATMORE, Ala. - Coastal Alabama Community College will host a Mass Casualty Incident Training exercise on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. across multiple buildings on the Atmore campus. The training is coordinated by the College’s Simulation Program and is designed to provide realistic emergency response preparation for students, faculty, staff, and community partners.

The full-day exercise will simulate a large-scale emergency scenario, allowing participants to practice coordinated response procedures in a controlled learning environment. The event will focus on emergency preparedness, communication, triage, and collaboration among healthcare providers, first responders, and campus personnel.

Mass casualty training exercises are an important component of healthcare and public safety education, helping ensure that responders are prepared to act quickly and effectively during real-life emergencies. Through hands-on simulations and coordinated response activities, participants will gain valuable experience in managing complex emergency situations.

The exercise also provides students in healthcare and related programs the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in a realistic scenario, strengthening critical thinking, teamwork, and clinical decision-making skills.

The training may involve emergency vehicles, simulated patients, and active response teams throughout the day. Members of the campus community and surrounding public are advised that this is only a training exercise, and there is no cause for alarm if they observe emergency response activity in the area.

Community members, students, and faculty/staff may notice increased activity on campus during the event as participants work through simulated emergency response operations.
