BREWTON, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama Historical Society will host its annual Legacy Lecture on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Neal Auditorium in the Neal Colonial Center on the Brewton campus of Coastal Alabama Community College.
Established in 2024, the Legacy Lecture series highlights individuals with ties to the local community who have made significant contributions to society. Each year’s featured speaker is invited to share personal experiences and insights on leadership in an engaging presentation that celebrates the region’s impact on the broader world.
This year’s lecture will feature championship-winning coach Jamie Riggs, who will discuss lessons in leadership drawn from his experience building what he describes as a “tradition of excellence.” Riggs will reflect on the principles that have guided his success and the importance of leadership both on and off the field.
“Each year, the Legacy Lecture highlights the contributions of individuals with ties to the local area who have distinguished themselves in their respective fields,” said Brett Chancery. “This year is no different. Coach Jamie Riggs understands the value of building a ‘tradition of excellence’ and what it takes to succeed on and off the field.”
The event is free and open to students, faculty, and community members. Seating is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Legacy Lecture is hosted by the Coastal Alabama Historical Society as part of its ongoing mission to preserve and celebrate the rich history and leadership traditions of the region while engaging the community in meaningful discussions about leadership, service, and achievement.
