Coastal Alabama to Host Living History Day on Thomasville Campus
Feb 9th, 2026 Featured

Coastal Alabama Community College will host Living History Day on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Thomasville Campus. The event is free and open to the public, with community members, families, students, faculty, and history enthusiasts of all ages encouraged to attend.
Living History Day will feature demonstrators from across Alabama, along with participants from Mississippi and Florida, showcasing a wide range of local, national, and world history eras. Through interactive demonstrations and hands-on experiences, attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with history and gain a deeper appreciation for the past.
“Living History Day is more than just an event. It is an opportunity to connect with the surrounding communities and engage our students and the public with history in a practical manner,” said Dr. Brett Chancery, Coastal Alabama History instructor and co-sponsor of the Coastal Alabama Historical Society. “With the support of our partners in education, our goal is to bring history from the pages of the textbook to our local communities.”
The event is presented by the Coastal Alabama Historical Society, which inaugurated Living History Day in 2025 with its first event on the Coastal Alabama Brewton Campus. The 2026 edition marks the first time the event will be held on the Thomasville Campus.
“We are thrilled to host Living History Day 2026 on the Thomasville Campus,” said Marcus Gordon, Thomasville Campus Director. “We are hoping for a big turnout. This is a great opportunity for people of all ages from all throughout our area to learn more about history and to develop a greater appreciation for the past.”
Living History Day provides educational experiences designed to connect Coastal Alabama with its surrounding communities while offering an engaging, family-friendly way to explore history beyond the classroom.
