CACC to Delay Opening to 9:30 AM, January 9

Jan 8th, 2024

There is a severe weather threat coming into our service area tonight/tomorrow morning.

What you need to know:

  • There are no changes to class or work schedules today/tonight, January 8.
  • We will have a delayed opening (classes and work schedules) to 9:30 a.m. tomorrow morning, January 9.

About this weather event, according to the National Weather Service:

  • Rain and humid weather will enter our area later this afternoon.  This is not the severe weather referenced above.  It will most likely be raining during night classes tonight.
  • Severe weather will be coming in a cold front between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.  This time period is broad due to the size of our service area.  Not all campuses will have severe weather for this full length of time, as this front is moving quickly.
  • The weather will bring between 2-4 inches of rain.
  • Tornadoes are likely with winds between 70-80 mph.

Never put yourself at risk of peril in these types of weather events.  Communicate with your instructors if you have a personal situation relating to this weather (i.e. downed trees, etc) preventing you from attending class tomorrow.  Your attendance during this first week is critical, so they need to know if you are unable to make class, but you plan to stay in the class.
