Adulting 101: Preparing for Severe Weather with Spinks Megginson

Feb 8th, 2023 12:15 PM-1:00 PM

The Coastal Alabama Libraries are piloting a monthly lunch program called Adulting 101. We are starting in Monroeville this spring and hoping to roll it out to Bay Minette, Brewton, and Thomasville in Fall 2023. We hope to market it to students, faculty, staff, and pending who we recruit for sessions, maybe even community. The idea will be to bring in local experts and even our own folks to give a talk and answer questions about a range of topics - goal setting, severe weather, personal finances, how to change a tire... the topics are really endless and wide ranging. Here's the schedule for Spring 2023, and I would love for your department to be part of a discussion about the larger rollout for Fall 2023.

February 8 - Surviving the Storm: Preparing for Severe Weather - Spinks Megginson, Local Meteorologist who streams out of Brewton***We may want to market this one rather heavily since I think there will be a lot of local interest. He's a big deal in this area since WKRG and the like don't adequately cover us.

March 8 - I Wanna Be a Millionaire: Personal Finance with Cassidy McBurnett from United Bank

April 5 - Call My Lawyer: Basic Legal Advice with Attorney Vinson Jaye, JD
